AMEL had the privilege of working on this outstanding project led by the UK Space Agency, as part of the countdown to the first launch by Virgin Orbit from Spaceport Cornwall. The model was a 72ft (22m) life-size replica of the first rocket that launched from UK soil in 2023. Displayed outside of the Science Museum in London, the rocket was part of a range of free, space-themed activities and hands-on exhibitions.

Aside from being the largest scale model AMEL has ever created, there was a buzz around this project because of our dedication to STEM activities.

“The Swift Group is committed to inspiring young people into careers in science, engineering and space so it was very special to be involved in the prominent stimuli for the UK Space Agency Virgin Orbit STEM project”

Mike McLean, Business Development Manager

The 2003 UK Space Agency’s Space for Everyone tour showcased the role of space in improving life on Earth and highlighted the diverse and varied career paths open to young people looking to enter this fast-growing industry - demonstrating how space works for them, and how they can work for space.

The tour featured the same replica rocket manufactured by AMEL in collaboration with the Curvature Group.
