Cutting Edge Advanced Composite Technology
With over 20 years’ experience and proven industry expertise, AMEL is leading the way in the composite world through product innovation and visionary technologies. We provide cost effective, high quality composite solutions from design through testing to manufacture.
Composite ManufacturingAMEL specialises in composite structures - Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) and Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastic (GFRP). These materials are developing at a rapid pace and are now widely used throughout most engineering environments due to the unique properties they can provide. Strong, yet light, making it an ideal solution for the Automotive, Aerospace, Marine and Energy industries.

Composite EngineeringAMEL offers full design and engineering services – an end to end design process of which you can choose the full service, or individual services, to meet your specific needs. This means, the whole design, engineering and manufacturing process happens seamlessly, under one roof with team members from different departments working closely together to ensure optimum results.

Composite TestingAMEL provides composite testing to qualify the best materials for a product by predicting and optimising a product’s performance. This will improve and accelerate the manufacturing process.
The testing is undertaken with a NADCAP compliant Instron 5985 250kN Test System complete with hydraulic grips and an integral environment chamber. It has the ability to mechanically test composites (and metals) between -80°C to +350°C. |
Facilities
AMEL operates from Hangar 2 at Scottow Enterprise Park, formerly RAF Coltishall. The facility boasts 5497 m² (59,179 ft²) production space. Length 91.44 m (300’) x Height 9.246 m (30’ 4”) x Width 45.72 (150’).
This vast space means that we can provide all your composite needs, from concept to final component with one off prototypes or large production runs.
The facilities include a temperature controlled oven, freezer for material storage, together with a trim room and tables of many sizes for cutting and laminating.
The oven can accommodate products up the a maximum of 6000 mm long, 2300 wide and 2100 high and cures to 180°C. Each cure cycle is computer controlled and full records are supplied for traceability.
